17" (43 cm.) Bisque socket head, small blue painted eyes in deeply-set sockets with laughter crinkles at the edges, white eye dots, black upper eyeliner, feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth in smiling expression, row of painted teeth, impressed dimples, blonde mohair wig arranged in very elaborate 18th century mountain pouf of curls, composition and wooden ball-jointed body, wearing antique folklore costume of Hallingdal region of Norway with rich embroidery. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: B.P. 6 (incised) S&C Germany (stamp). Comments: Swaine, circa 1912. Value Points: wonderfully expressive and rarely found model is rendered extraordinary by her elaborate and original coiffure.
