21" (53 cm.) Bisque socket head with very full cheeks, blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, mauve blushed eyeshadow, brushstroked brows with feathered details, shaded nostril dots, closed mouth with defined space between the shaded lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body with straight wrists, lovely antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: A 10 T. Comments: Andre Thuillier, circa 1885. Value Points: exquisite beauty of the gentle-faced bebe is enhanced by finest quality of bisque and painting, especially beautiful lips, original body with fine original finish. The doll was an early signature work featured in the Museum of Doll Art and was highlighted on the cover of the book, The Rose Unfolds, by Rosalie Whyel and Susan Hedrick, and a copy of the book is included with the doll.

One of Rosalie's favorite dolls. It was considered a highlight of the museum and really became their signature doll in many ways as demonstrated by the beautiful face adorning the cover of their book, The Rose Unfolds.
