Description
7 1/2" (19 cm.) doll. Pink tinted porcelain shoulderhead with slender oval face and elongated throat, brown painted sculpted hair drawn smoothly around the side of face and captured in a coiled chignon at her nape, painted blue eyes, black upper eyeliner, single stroke brows, closed mouth, muslin body, porcelain lower arms, nicely costumed. Condition: generally excellent, body a bit soiled. Comments: Germany, circa 1860, the model is believed to be inspired by portraits of Queen Victoria. Value Points: rare brown hair on the petite porcelain lady, arranged in wooden shadowbox with print of Victoria, thimble with raised profile image of Victoria, a collection of early miniature books, book-shaped box with tiny strand of baby hair, and with chatelaine worn at her waist.
