26" (66 cm.) Wooden doll with one-piece head and torso, unusual pear-like shaping of face, flat crown under wig, elongated throat, modeled bosom, tiny waist, cloth upper arms, carved wooden lower arms with spatula-like hands having individual fingers, mortise and tenon-jointing at hips and knees, black enamel inset eyes in oval shape, dot painted all-around lashes, single stroke brows with dot accents, well-shaped nose and chin, closed mouth, blush spots, linen wig cap with partial original hair. Condition: generally excellent, original painted finish, nose and chin rubs, wig sparse. Comments: England, circa 1740. Value Points: regal presence of the well-poised lady, wearing fine gold silk dress with exquisite lace trim at the sleeves, long leading strings at the back, linen cap with embroidered details and matching linen coin purse, petticoats, stockings, and hand-cobbled leather shoes.
