Description
24" (61 cm.) Felt swivel head with up-tilted face on long slender neck, pressed and painted facial features, well-defined chin and cheek bones, side-glancing brown eyes with very heavy eyelids, lushly-painted black lashes, black brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with painted teeth, black mohair wig decorated with felt flowers and hair comb, long slender lady shape, molded left bent elbow, hip and knees jointing, high heel posed feet. Condition: generally excellent, one small break in comb. Marks: Lenci (original label). Comments: Lenci, from their 165 series of salon dolls, circa 1925. Value Points: rare early model with wonderfully preserved facial painting and wig, wearing original costume comprising tiered organdy gown with applique red felt dots, black fringed shawl with red felt roses at the bodice, organdy ruffled petticoats, black silk stockings, black felt heeled shoes with red roses, large bangle earrings, and holding a wooden guitar in painting, brilliant yellow and red colors.
