Description
15" (38 cm.) Honey-toned poured wax shoulderhead, blue glass inset eyes, tinted features, blonde mohair curls on tacked-on muslin wig lining, slender firmly-stuffed twill body with wax arms. Condition: generally excellent, some typical fading of facial painting. Comments: English, early 1800s, an early provenance of the doll handwritten in brown ink on attached paper indicates that the doll was made at Stratford on Avon, and dressed by Mrs. Burmer about the year 1810. Value Points: the doll is wearing her original silk dress (some frailty), with matching bonnet, undergarments and matching laced shoes, and owns two additional silk poke bonnets and their matching net undercaps, along with an embroidered fan.
