Description
28" (71 cm.) All-wooden doll with one-piece head and torso, oval-shaped face with little pointy chin, elongated throat, sculpted bodice edge with painted gilt-edged red bodice, black painted hair with sculpted details, prominent black tuck comb with gilt trim, delicate feathering of tendrils around the forehead, pierced ears, painted brown outlined eyes, single stroke brows, closed mouth, shaded blushed cheeks, mortise and tenon jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips, knees and at the high waist line allowing her to bend slightly forward at the waist, painted white stockings, red shoes, wearing antique gown of fine muslin with pouf upper sleeves. Condition: chip in wood at right shoulder, otherwise structurally excellent. Comments: Grodnertal region, early 1800s. Value Points: elegant presence is enhanced by rarity factors including painted bodice, bendable waist and unusual detail of tuck comb.
