Description
16" (41 cm.) Honey-toned poured wax shoulderhead depicting elderly balding man, brown glass inset eyes, impressed details of age lines, closed mouth, strong nose and chin, inserted tendrils of hair at back of head and brows, cloth and silk covered cloth body, stitch-jointing at shoulders, hips and knees, wax hands. Condition: very good/excellent, typical fading of painted features. Comments: English, mid-1800s, the doll closely resembles Benjamin Franklin and may have been created as special commission or exhibition doll. Value Points: wearing original late 1700s style gentleman's costume of silk and velvet.
