Description
6 1/2" (17 cm.) Each is of firmly-stuffed fine fabric with stitch-shaped nose and embroidered features, thread-stitched-on hair and beard. Condition: generally excellent, some wear to fabric on front torso of woman. Marks: Rag Dolls/Brazil/Period of Don Pedro1st, 1822/Made by Convent Nuns (Note beautiful hands) (original ink-script paper tag on woman). Comments: early 1800s. Value Points: the very rare early dolls with wonderful detailing (including the hands mentioned on the original tag!) are wearing their original costumes, the man in military costume and the woman with blue gown with extended train.
