Solid domed bisque head with flanged neck, very full cheeks, tinted baby hair and brows, blue glass eyes, black upper eyeliner, open mouth with extended downcast upper lip, two porcelain teeth, double chin, cloth torso and upper limbs, composition lower arms and legs. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 1436. Comments: sculpted by Grace Story Putnam, late 1920s, a companion model to Babykins 1435 (#183 of this catalog), the two dolls, with different yet complimentary expressions, are likely from a special commissioned series whose production was never completed. No other examples of this model 1436 is known to exist. Value Points: important doll by the American doll artist whose story is yet to be justly celebrated for her place in doll history.
