26" (66 cm.) Paper mache shoulderhead of lady with elongated strong throat and slightly-modeled bosom, black sculpted hair arranged in center part with very high "Apollo knot" at center crown, and two elaborate poufs of curls at her sides of face, painted blue eyes, black upper eyeliner, lightly-feathered brows, strong nose, closed mouth with center line forming into a slight smile, slender kid body with wooden lower arms and legs, painted yellow slippers. Condition: generally excellent, very light typical craquelure on face. Comments: Germany, circa 1840. Value Points: rarity factors include luxury size, extravagant coiffure with sculpting detail, slight smile, and wearing original costume comprising white linen gown with fine stumpwork embroidery at hemline, and "leg'o mutton" sleeves, pantalets, green silk cape and carrying tapestry woven purse.
