Description
16" (41 cm.) Bisque socket head, blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, rose blushed eyeshadow, painted lashes, brushstroked brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with defined space between shaded lips, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 7 (head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, circa 1878, his first period bebe. Value Points: pristine original state of preservation, the bebe is wearing original cashmere ivory gown and matching cape with ecru soutache embroidery, matching cap, from the Jumeau couturier workshops of Ernestine Jumeau. The doll and costume are shown in The Jumeau Book by Theimer and Theriault, page 410.
