Description
15" (38 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, cobalt blue glass eyes, painted lashes and feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with center accent line, unpierced ears, blonde mohair wig in coiled braided coronet, cork pate, kid poupee body with gusset-jointing at hips, knees, and elbows. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: E 1 Depose B. Comments: French, Barrois, circa 1870. Value Points: the petite poupee is wearing lovely antique costume and carries matching green kidskin gloves and purse. Tucked into purse is an early ink script note "The doll of Clara Brooks Sayre brot [sic] to her from Paris by her cousin Mary Evelyn Sayre in 1871". Ex-collection Doris Hupp.
