Description
24" (61 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, small blue glass enamel inset eyes with spiral threading, dark eyeliner, mauve blushed eye shadow, feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with accent line between the lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, kid lady body with stitch-jointing, patented Lacman hands. Condition: generally excellent, body is original. Comments: Jumeau, circa 1880, the poupee portrait model head evolved soon thereafter into the earliest bebe model heads; this example has original Lacman body. Comments: the doll is presented in original wooden box with doll's history on inside box lid "Mary Louise Davis Christmas, 1886", Included with the doll are various silk and cotton gowns, bonnets and undergarments, along with early "Dolls' Fashions" presented by the Domestic Sewing Machine Co of New York, 1875.
