Description

14" (36 cm.) Carved wooden socket head with well-sculpted facial features, painted brown eyes with extended black upper eyeliner, high angled brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with richly-painted lips, accent ear decorations, brunette cropped wig, all-wooden spring-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Schoenhut Doll Pat. Jan. 17. '11 USA & Foreign Countries. Comments: Schoenhut, circa 1915, the doll was created as a special commission model from an Asian series of the firm, which also included Chinese babies (see #175), and a Chinese man. Value Points: extremely rare, the doll has fine original finish and unique painting, wearing original costume, wooden clog sandals, and head wrap.
