Description
20" (51 cm.) h. x 16"w. x 13"d. Arranged upon a mahogany wooden platform with velvet cover and bronze mounts is a homey Brittany scene of mother and son at the spinning wheel, she seated on a carved Brittany wooden bench behind a wooden spinning wheel with carved detail, and he, seated on a wooden stool at her side, holding the spools. Each doll has bisque socket head and glass eyes, bisque hands, and is wearing original Brittany style costume. A cast iron key is included. Condition: the scenic presentation is excellent, bisque dolls excellent, mechanism needs adjustment. Comments: French, circa 1920. Value Points: charming and poignant scene with wonderful details including nearby resting cat and the boy's shoe laid carelessly to the side.
