Description
19" (48 cm.) Pressed hard rubber shoulderhead with sculpted black hair in short tousled curls, painted brown eyes, painted lower lashes and upper eyeliner, single stroke brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth, original muslin body with rubber hands. Condition: some typical craquelure on face and shoulders. Comments: American, attributed to New York Rubber Co. (Good year, their patent 444), based upon marking found on nearly identical doll, circa 1860. Comments: New York Rubber, circa 1860. Value Points: very rare doll with endearing expression, original body and wearing original sheer muslin gown with transfer pattern of leaves, undergarments, leather slippers. Ex-collection Doris Hupp.
