Description
25" (64 cm.) Art-plaster sculpted head with sculpted up-swept light brown hair captured under a silk chiffon hat arranged in rose motif, painted facial features, blue painted eyes, closed mouth with pleasant expression, padded armature body, posable arms, posed on original wooden stand labeled with her name and 1897. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Maude Adams, purchased by J.H. Hoffheimer, 1937 Traphagen School (original cloth label on costume). Comments: designed by Lilli Baitz, the Utah-born child of an acting family, Maude Adams (1872-1953) was notable for her title role as Peter Pan from 1905-1907. Value Points: wearing coral silk pique dress with pigeon bust edged with attached lace-covered bolero, silk braid trim, holding leather gloves. With original labeled leather travel case. $1800/2400
