Description
25" (64 cm.) Art-plaster sculpted head with sculpted brown hair brushed to the side and accented with flowers, curled bangs, painted facial features, blue painted eyes, closed mouth with gentle smile, padded armature body, posable arms, posed on original wooden stand labeled with her name and 1877. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Lily Langtry, purchased by J.H. Hoffheimer, 1937 Traphagen School (original cloth label on costume). Comments: designed by Lilli Baitz, portraying the British actress, Lily Langtry (1852-1929), whose celebrated and scandalous career included performing in the Oscar Wilde play, Lady Windemere's Fan, which was written especially for her. Value Points: wearing printed velvet fitted gown with (faded) blue silk center panel, bustle and train, lace trim with celadon silk bows, black choker. With original name labeled leather travel case.
