25" (64 cm.) Art-plaster sculpted head with sculpted black hair in up-do with arranged curls at forehead, painted facial features, brown painted eyes glancing to the side, closed mouth with mysterious expression, padded armature body, posable arms, posed on original wooden stand labeled with her name and 1890. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Julia Marlowe, purchased by J.H. Hoffheimer, 1937 Traphagen School (original cloth label on costume). Comments: designed by Lilli Baitz, portraying the English-born Julia Marlowe (1866-1950) who, having moved to American at the young age of 5, became notable for her roles in the works of Shakespeare. Value Points: wearing fitted black silk satin and lace gown with marabou trim and purple ombre velvet sash, pearl necklace. With original labeled leather travel case.
