Description
25" (64 cm.) Art-plaster sculpted head with sculpted reddish hair in short windblown style, painted facial features, blue painted eyes glancing to the side, closed mouth with pensive expression, padded armature body, posable arms, posed on original wooden stand labeled with her name and 1923. Condition: generally excellent, fabric frail at bodice. Marks: Elsie Ferguson, purchased by J.H. Hoffheimer, 1937 Traphagen School (original cloth label on costume). Comments: designed by Lilli Baitz, portraying Elsie Ferguson (1883-1961) an early star of stage and silent film. Value Points: wearing cognac silk dropped waist dress with silk fringed ribbon trim, leather two-strap slippers. With original labeled leather travel case.
