Description
19" (48 cm.) Felt doll with center seam face, black bead eyes, thick black brows, thick black mohair beard and moustache, disc-jointed arms and spindly legs emphasized by very large extended feet. Condition: good, some repair at neck, few moth holes, feet scuffed. Comments: In the Steiff manner, circa 1912, depicting French-Algerian soldier. Value Points: very rare doll, wearing original elaborately wrapped turban, bronze-green felt uniform with French stripes on sleeves, leather boots and carrying wooden rifle.
