Description
25" (64 cm.) Art-plaster sculpted head with sculpted dark brown hair with casual topknot, painted facial features, brown painted eyes glancing to the side, closed mouth appearing as though open with painted teeth, slightly smiling, padded armature body, posable arms, posed on original wooden stand labeled with her name and 1918. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Frances Starr, purchased by J.H. Hoffheimer, 1937 Traphagen School (original cloth label on costume). Comments: designed by Lilli Baitz, portraying Frances Grant Starr (1881-1973) the actress appeared in stock theatre as well as early silent film, talking film and even TV until the mid-1950s. Value Points: wearing blue/green silk frock with tuxedo collar, high waist, beaded embellishment to indicate brooch, silk stockings, and laced black patent leather shoes. With original labeled leather travel case.
