Description
25" (64 cm.) Art-plaster sculpted head with sculpted short dark hair, painted facial features, brown painted eyes glancing to the side, closed mouth with elegant expression, padded armature body, posable arms, posed on original wooden stand labeled with her name and 1925. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Jane Cowl, purchased by J.H. Hoffheimer, 1937 Traphagen School (original cloth label on costume). Comments: designed by Lilli Baitz, portraying Jane Cowl (1890-1950) the Boston-born star of stage and film, once described as having "a voice with a tear". Value Points: navy blue woolen ensemble with matching cloche hat, wide organza collar, white fur trim and matching muff, painted gloves, silk stockings, elegant leather slippers. With original labeled leather travel case.
