Description
18" (46 cm.) overall. 11" doll. Attached to original padded cushion with lavish lace cover is the paper mache head on young baby, having black painted hair, black enamel inset eyes, painted features, slightly-parted lips, two rows of tiny teeth, hollow carton torso which contains bellows mechanism, and extended arms with carved wooden hands. When bellows squeezed, the doll turns its head side to side and waves arms. Condition: generally excellent, few tears in lace. Comments: French, circa 1850. Value Points: rare early model is wearing original lavish baby bunting.
