Description
21" (53 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, blue glass inset eyes with darker blue iris rims, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, mauve blushed eyeshadow, arched feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with accented lips, upturned lip corners, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, French kid poupee body with distinctive square-cut collarette, gusset jointing at elbows, hips and knees. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: (illegible scroll letter). Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, circa 1865, the early variation of his later deposed smiling poupee. Value Points: finest delicate bisque with charming piquant expression, original sturdy body, wearing original fine silk two-piece ensemble with ivory silk ribbons, woven bonnet, leather slippers, undergarments.
