Description
11" (28 cm.) Carved socket head with sculpted black hair in simple coiffure, captured in a tight chignon at the back of her head, sculpted eye sockets and lips, tinted brows, pupils, and lips, smiling expression, cloth body, wooden hands. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Chinese Door of Hope mission, circa 1920, depicted is the Amah (nanny) and her 5" young charge, also with carved wooden head and painted features. Value Points: each wear their original traditional costumes, handsewn at the Mission, the child with a delightful cap, still tied with original strings to the Amah.
