Description
18" (46 cm.) Firmly-pressed cloth head with unusual full cheeks, oil-painted complexion, facial features and short brown center-parted hair with shaded ringlet curls at back of head, sculpted ears with pierced ear lobes, painted large brown shaded and outlined eyes, accented nostrils, tiny closed mouth, impressed dimple on double chin, firmly-stuffed muslin body with oil-painted arms and legs, painted black ankle boots, antique costume, apron, and undergarments. Condition: very good, typical craquelure, original finish. Comments: Izannah Walker, an identical model is known with paper label indicating "I.F. Walker's Patent Nov. 4, 1873". Comments: Izannah Walker, circa 1873. Value Points: rare model with unusual character baby-like face, original pierced ears.

A truly remarkable Izannah which breaks away from the more usual look to create a child like presence. For the collector of these important early American cloth dolls it is not only one of the rarest examples known, but also allows for fantastic display options with the more typically found adult models.
