Description
17" (43 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, intricate neck articulation allowing head to tilt side-to-side and nod as well as swivel, very full lower cheeks, cobalt blue glass enamel inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, heavy eyelids, feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with outlined lips, ears pierced into head, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French hollow kid poupee body, shapely torso, dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, antique gold silk gown, undergarments, fancy leather boots. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Poupee Brevete SGDG (green stamp on torso). Comments: Pierre-Victor Clement, whose primary occupation was leather shoe maker, designed a unique poupee body made of "blown" or hollow stiffened leather, in the same manner in which his shoes were made; the body was deposed in 1867. Value Points: very rare poupee with wonderfully-preserved Clement body.
