Description
17" (43 cm.) Solid domed paper mache shoulderhead, elongated throat, black glass enamel inset eyes, heavy eyelids, painted lower lashes, single stroke brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with center accent line, brunette wig in original elaborate coiled chignon at nape and surmounting coronet of velvet flowers, firmly-stuffed muslin body, wooden lower arms with spatula-shaped hands. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany, circa 1850s. Value Points: original finish in fine state of preservation, the doll is wearing an unusual folklore costume of Switzerland with laced vest, applique designs on skirt, and tiny black bead accents, unusual brown knit slippers.
