25" (64 cm.) Paper mache shoulderhead with black sculpted center part hair drawn softly behind the sculpted ears and forming into narrow braids that encircle a chignon at the nape, black glass enamel eyes, heavily-modeled eyelids, delicately painted lower lashes and brows, open mouth with two rows of tiny teeth, kid lady body with shapely torso. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: French, attributed to Andreas Voit, an unusual sculpted hair model for this firm, circa 1850. Value Points: fine original finish, glass eyes, rare open mouth with teeth, sturdy original body and wearing wonderful antique gown, undergarments, linen hooded cape.
