Description
14" (36 cm.) Solid domed paper mache shoulderhead, black painted pate with delicately-painted tendrils of curls around the forehead, slit at crown for insertion of wig (not included), black enamel inset eyes, single stroke brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth, kid poupee body with shapely torso, gusset-jointing at knees. Condition: very good, original finish albeit scuffed. Comments: French, attributed to Voit, circa 1840. Value Points: charming petite size of the early poupee, presented in antique trunk along with a wonderful early trousseau of five period gowns each with matching pantalets, bonnets including one of "a deux bonjours" style, various undergarments, black kidskin slippers and accessories.
