18" (46 cm.) Carved wooden head and torso with slender elongated throat, oval-shaped face, defined bosom and tiny waist, high domed forehead, black enamel inset eyes, slender pronounced nose, dot outlined eyes, feathered brows with dot highlights, thin line closed mouth with slight smile, defined ears, tacked-on brunette human hair, wooden arms and legs with mortise and tenon jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, well-defined ankle bones, individually carved spatula-shaped fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: English, circa 1750. Value Points: most captivating piquant expression on the regally posed lady, original finish, and wearing very fine costume comprising silk gown with embroidered flowers and vines, lined brocade silk center panel, petticoat with India cotton border, pocket of matching fabric, leather shoes, embroidered lace sleevelets and cap, and with silk darning ball and silk brocade pocket.
