Description
27" (69 cm.) Pink-tinted porcelain shoulderhead with plump facial modeling, cobalt blue glass inset eyes, dark eyeliner, very lightly-tinted lashes and brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with accent line between the lips, brunette human hair over cork pate, kid poupee body with gusset jointing, pink-tinted porcelain arms to above the elbows, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Brevete SGDG (stamp on torso). Comments: attributed to Blampoix in reference to his 1855 brevete for glass eyes, and his 1857 advertisement for "patented (SGDG) porcelain doll shoulderheads, to which eyes will be affixed". Value Points: very beautiful complexion with delicate tinting and blush, rare glass eyes, matching porcelain arms, sturdy original body. The doll is shown in the book, The Rose Unfolds, by Rosalie Whyel and Susan Hedrick, page 46.
