Description
18" (46 cm.) Lightly-pink-tinted porcelain shoulderhead with plumply modeled face, painted pale blue upper-glancing eyes, black upper eyeliner, delicately-painted all-around lashes, lightly-feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with outlined full lips, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, all-wooden poupee body with shapely torso, dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees. Condition: generally excellent, body is not original Huret. Marks: Maison Huret Boulevard Montmartre, 22 Paris, Exposition Universal de 1855 (stamp on kid leather band attached to upper torso). Comments: Maison Huret, circa 1860, the 1870 era wooden body was likely replaced in the Maison Huret shop as indicated by kid label. Value Points: most pleasing expression enhanced by luminous complexion and eyes, the doll is wearing early silk costume with bonnet and unusual twill heeled shoes in the Huret manner.
