Description
9" (23 cm.) Bisque socket head with highly-characterized expression, blue painted downcast eyes, black and red upper eyeliner, single stroke brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with wide beaming smile, blonde mohair wig, composition and wooden ball-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent Comments: Hertwig, circa 1910, likely a prototype that was never put in production; the model was presented in a 2001 Theriault's auction of the Hertwig archives that had been preserved by the Hertwig family until that date; no other examples are known to exist. Value Points: the rare model has exceptional detail of modeling, especially for this small doll, with very fine detail of painting, fine antique costume.
