17" (43 cm.) Bisque swivel head on bisque shoulderplate with luxury articulation allowing the head to tilt side to side and forward (as well as swivel), blue glass inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, kid-over-wooden torso, upper arms, lower legs and feet, bisque lower arms, so-called "baggy leg" upper legs over hinge-jointed hips and knees, ball-jointed elbows. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Maison Alice Couterier Paris (paper label on torso). Comments: the Parisian toy store Aus Enfants de France, owned by Alice Couterier, circa 1874, was noted for luxury dolls and costumes. Value Points: luxury details of the poupee include neck articulation system, kid-over wooden body with unique construction, and bisque hands.
