Description
18" (46 cm.) Bisque socket head with ebony black matte complexion, highly characterized features, dark brown glass inset eyes, black feathered brows with modeling details, closed mouth with downcast coral painted lips, pierced ears, black mohair wig, black composition and wooden ball-jointed body, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 7 1302 Dep S&H. Comments: Simon and Halbig, circa 1900, from a series of 1300 character dolls, a companion to #402 of this catalog. Value Points: especially fine detail of sculpting is enhanced by fine matte complexion on this extremely rare doll. The doll is featured in the book, The Rose Unfolds, by Rosalie Whyel and Susan Hedrick, page 219.
