Description
15" (38 cm.) Bisque socket head of man with lean, elongated head, painted blue eyes, painted lower lashes and upper eyeliner, feathered brows, aquiline nose, closed mouth with painted moustache, with cut pate for wig but also having painted hair in front of ears and at nape, composition and wooden fully-jointed body, gentleman's costume including top hat. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: D.L. Comments: Damerval & Laffranchy, who in 1910 presented a series of art-character heads; the firm was mentioned in the 1910 article "The Renaissance of the French Doll". Value Points: uniquely-modeled face with well-defined features.
