Bisque socket head with very full lower cheeks, brown glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, rose blushed eyeshadow, brushstroked and feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with shaded and outlined lips, brunette human hair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body with plump limbs and unjointed wrists. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 12 (head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, circa 1884, the model was sculpted for Jumeau by the celebrated Parisian artist Carrier-Belleuse, and is known as "triste" in reference to its character-like wistful expression.
