20" (51 cm.) Carved wooden socket head with natural finish of complexion and darkened hair, carved center-parted hair with deep combmarks brushed to the back and captured in a coronet-forming braid, defined eye sockets, painted brown eyes with dark eyeliner, white eye dots, accented nostrils, closed mouth with shy expression, double chin, all-wooden body with dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, defined fingers and toes. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: attributed to Huggler of Brienz, Switzerland, early 20th century. Value Points: especially fine detail of carving, the Huggler dolls are virtually unknown in this large size, wearing original country style costume, and carrying miniature wooden doll.
