Description
23" (58 cm.) Paper mache shoulderhead turned to the side, modeled bosom, oval face and strong elongated throat, blue glass inset eyes, red and black upper eyeliner, painted lower lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with outlined lips in gently smiling expression, blonde mohair wig in original up-swept fashion, original muslin torso and upper limbs, paper mache arms to above the elbows with painted white gloves and bracelets, paper mache lower legs with painted white ribbed stockings and black boots with green scalloped edging, wearing original costume. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Cuno and Otto Dressel, circa 1890, the firm presented the doll in both bisque and paper mache, and with smiling or serious expression. Value Points: rare model especially in this finely-preserved manner, with unusual original painted gloves and boots. Ex-collection Doris Hupp.
