Description
11" (28 cm.) Carved wooden socket head with well-defined facial features, intaglio painted brown eyes, white eye dots, one-stroke brows, dark upper eyeliner, closed mouth with downcast lips, Schoenhut wooden spring-jointed body in unusual short height. Condition: all original, facial painting original, costume is firmly-attached with some darkening. Comments: Schoenhut, circa 1915, the doll is all-original and likely was a special commissioned work. Value Points: wearing original twill aviator costume with leather belt and tightly-fitted felt/suede aviator cap, with original Schoenhut stand, the doll surely celebrated an early aviation event.
