Description
22" (56 cm.) Bisque socket head with oval face, small blue glass inset eyes, painted lower lashes, slightly-modeled brushstroked brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with primly set lips, blushed cheeks, pierced ears, brunette human hair hand-tied wig, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body, wearing magenta silk dress with lace overlay, undergarments, socks and leather shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: French, early 1900s, from the era of Renaissance of the French Doll, maker unknown. Value Points: rare doll with distinctive expression, her complexion enhanced by touches of dewy patina. The doll is featured in the book, The Rose Unfolds, by Rosalie Whyel and Susan Hedrick, page 156.
