Description
21" (53 cm.) x 13" card. 13" doll. A heavy card stock presentation card has decorative paper brick border to match the hearth brick, and offers an incredible display of paper mache foods and delicacies, along with a hearth, wooden bin, pots and pans, wooden tools, and a bisque head chef with painted facial features, closed mouth, brunette human hair wig, and five-piece paper mache body, wearing chef's uniform (the doll is marked "Masson, Lorraine A.L. & Co No. 0 Limoges" for Lanternier). In pristine unplayed with condition, the presentation displays were popular as Etrennes gifts during the early 20th century, and toy and department stores vied with each other in preparing the most dramatic and eye-catching examples. This rare set offers wonderful breads, desserts, tarts, quiches, ham loaves, and more, along with the bisque head chef. Circa 1915.
