Description
11" (28 cm.) Bisque socket head with chubby dimpled cheeks, blue glass sleep eyes, painted lashes, short brushstroked brows, open mouth with two rows of porcelain teeth, brunette mohair bobbed wig, composition and wooden ball-jointed toddler body with side-hip jointing, nicely costumed. Marks: Germany 410 3/0. Comments: Marseille, circa 1913, the model was commissioned by Robert Maaser from that firm. Value Points: rare model with wonderful expression, impressed cheek dimples, double row of teeth with (working) retractable movement of lower row when the doll is lying down. The doll is featured in the book, The Rose Unfolds, by Rosalie Whyel and Susan Hedrick, page 177.
