22" (56 cm.) One-piece head and torso, egg-shaped head, oval-shaped black enamel eyes, tiny-dot painted brows, tiny mouth, blush spots on cheeks, flax wig, elongated throat, shapely bosom, flat back torso, peg-jointed simplistically-shaped wooden legs and lower arms, cloth upper arms, wearing fine silk gown with interwoven floral designs, ribbon fur bellows, braided stomacher, quilted silk petticoat, white-work cap, velvet slippers. Condition: generally excellent, original finish with light rub on nose, wooden hands worn off. Comments: English, late 1700s. Value Points: striking presence of the early wooden doll with original finish. Ex-Collection Evelyn Way Kendall, presented in her celebrated auction of 1999.
