Description

24" (62 cm.) Bisque socket head, blue glass sleep eyes, dark eyeliner, mohair lashes, painted lashes, brushstroked brows, open mouth, outlined lips, four porcelain teeth, brunette mohair wig, composition and wooden ball-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Simon & Halbig K*R 62. Comments: Kammer and Reinhardt, circa 1900. Value Points: pristine condition, original wig, dress, body, body finish and in original labeled box. Included with the doll is a photograph of its original owner, Genevieve Albers, at about age 11, holding the doll. A museum note with the doll reads "Genevieve preserved her doll in mint condition until Rosalie acquired it from her in the early 2000s when Genevieve was in her 90s. It was said at her funeral that Genevieve was larger than life and that 'she died, as fitting for her, on Christmas itself, in order to get in one great party in Heaven'."
