Description
21" (53 cm.) Painted bisque head with flanged neck depicting plump-faced child, small blue glass sleep eyes, brown eyeshadow and liner, lightly-tinted brows, tiny nose, open mouth with outlined lips, two porcelain upper teeth, deeply-impressed dimples at lip corners, blonde human hair, chubby muslin body, composition arms. Condition: generally excellent, fingernails painted on hands. Marks: 1430 copr. by Jeanne Orsini Germany. Comments: Germany, designed by the American artist Jeanne Orsini and created in Germany under commission from George Borgfeldt, 1920s; the doll was also produced in shoulderhead variation as model 1423. Value Points: rare model with wonderful expression, beautifully-preserved original complexion, antique costume.
