Description
11" (28 cm.) -13". Box 14" x 11". A heavy grey/green sample box contains three graduated size bisque shoulderhead dolls portraying an older boy, each with blonde sculpted hair with forehead bangs, painted wistful facial features, sculpted bodice and blue bow tie, muslin body, bisque lower arms and legs. Comments: Germany, Hertwig, circa 1914. The dolls were shown in the 1914 Hertwig 50th Anniversary catalog as model 217, offered in twelve sizes. The Hertwig factory sample boxes had been preserved in secret archives until their auction from the original Hertwig family in 2000. Value Points: well-preserved important relic from original archives.
